Intro to The Pearls of Wisdom & Life Experience

The Pearls of Wisdom & Life Experience

On my journey to run errands, I realized that I have had a lot of things happen to me over the years in my business and in my personal life. Some things I have encountered have been weird, crazy, and funny; it will make you laugh and cry all at the same time. Although I am highly educated with an ExMBA in Business Administration with a Concentration in Management, I am a down to earth person. I am what you would call a Jack of All Trades, but a Master of None. Lately, though, I have been focusing on mastering working with Small Businesses (which is my passion). Despite my education, I honestly wouldn't say I’m an expert, because I have made as many bad decisions as good decisions. Of course, most of them were for the benefit of the business and/or the family, but that doesn't make me proud of all of them. Nevertheless, I can tell you this, Nancy “Nicky” Thompson is one in a million. It is hard to be who I am without understanding where I can from and how I arrived at being the FABULOUS person I am....LOL.

Believe it or not, some small business owners, have to balance a job or career and their business, which was my case. So again, I say I have been through a lot; let’s not even begin with the adventures of my personal life. Over the years, I think the decisions I’ve made (whoppers as my granny used to say...LOL) use to affect my ability to be a good business owner, mother, wife, and friend. Now, I use them as a learning tool.

I don’t want to bore anyone with loooooooooooooong stories or epic novels, so this will be a collection of short stories that tell who I am as an individual and how I got to be the person I am. From the perspective of a business owner, I will tell you the DO’s & DON'TS of being in business from my personal experiences. My experiences will also include situations that have occur with my clients, friends, etc. and their experiences with life and business. I believe that you’ll find our journeys very interesting, because you probably won’t believe some of the shenanigans “WE’VE” been through.

Here’s my first Pearl of Wisdom and Life Experience:

I was challenged to read "The Hero Effect" by Kevin Brown. It was a very profound book with valid points. I loved it so much and really looked at how his stories applied to my life, so I will be quoting from his experience throughout my stories. The first thing in the book that stood out to me was a statement his wife made, which was “we are the sum total and the by-product of everyone who has shown up in our lives. Think about the people who have stopped by and poured a little bit of themselves into you-leaving you a little better than they found you. We are not self-made." This is a very true statement. I took it one step further, by adding “we are the product of the people who have touched our lives, rather the mark they left was good or bad.” This means we make the ultimate decision on if we going to learn from the situations we’ve encountered and move on or allow them to affect our lives.

We have to change our stories and not hold of the baggage from the past hurts, rather it was from our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, boyfriends, girlfriends, kids, husbands, wives, business partners, etc. Although, I am Perfect…..HE-HE-HE-HE-HE, just kidding….I understand the struggle (Well let's just say I am perfectly made in the image of my heavenly father, Jehovah). He knows we are mere dust and imperfect, but he admonishes us to not hold on to the baggage that we carry from relationship to relationship.

The old folks use to say, forgiveness is for you, not the other person; it means your happiness and peace of mind. Sometimes we have to be the bigger person and apologize or even be strong enough to walk away. Jesus said at Matt 6:14,15: we must forgive our brothers and their trespasses so that we will be forgiven for ours. Trust me I am a constant work in progress on FORGIVENESS, but I try not to let anyone block my blessings by holding grudges.

So please think about your future, before you act……

One of the companies I use to work with has a saying “You are in Business for yourself, not by yourself,” so, I hope our experiences can shed light on what others go through in their daily struggles with life and business. The struggles we faced even shows how we keep it going after we got getting started. I hope you enjoy reading the adventures from the Pearls of Wisdom and Life Experiences!!

Please subscribe to our blog, so you won’t miss a minute of the shenanigans.
